"We Will Not Be Intimidated By Terrorists"-Emir Of Kano As He Visits Kano Central Mosque After Bomb Massacre

The Emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi II, on Saturday visited the city’s bloodstained central mosque, 24 hours after coordinated bomb and gun attacks there that left at least 200 people dead.
During the 20-minute-visit to the mosque, which adjoins his palace in the city, the emir directed the place be washed and cleaned, an AFP correspondent at the scene reported.
Sanusi was out of Nigeria on Friday, when the deadly assault on the mosque occurred. Last week, the emir — who is the country’s second most senior Muslim cleric — made a call at the same mosque urging civilians to take up arms against the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram.

“From all indications, they (attackers) have been planning this for at least two months,” Sanusi said as he arrived at the mosque straight from the airport. He did not give details on what information supported that assertion.
“I have directed that the mosque be washed and cleaned and prayers should continue here,” he said.
“We will never be intimidated into abandoning our religion, which is the intention of the attackers.”
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan vowed Saturday to hunt down those behind the“heinous” attack.

A senior rescue official late Friday gave AFP the preliminary death toll of 120. The official also said that at least 270 people were wounded in the attack, which saw two suicide bombers blow themselves up and gunmen opened fire during weekly prayers at the Grand Mosque in Kano, the biggest city in the mainly Muslim north of the country.

Over 200 Dead In Friday Kano Central Mosque Bomb Massacre

Central Mosque in Kano explosion
Over 200 people were feared killed in Kano during a multiple bomb blast that rocked the central mosque during Friday prayer.
The attack at the Grand Mosque in Kano, the biggest city in the mainly Muslim north of the country, came just as Friday prayers had got under way.
The mosque is attached to the palace of the Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II, Nigeria’s second most senior Muslim cleric, who just last week urged civilians to take up arms against Boko Haram.

The blasts came after a bomb attack was foiled against a mosque in the northeastern city of Maiduguri earlier on Friday, five days after two female suicide bombers killed over 45 people in the city.

National police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu told AFP that the bombers blew themselves up in quick succession then “gunmen opened fire on those who were trying to escape”.

Ojukwu said he did not know whether the suicide bombers were male or female, after a spate of attacks by women in recent months, and did not give an exact figure on the number of gunmen.

But he said an angry mob killed four of the shooters in the chaotic aftermath.
Worshipper Aminu Abdullahi and local resident Hajara Tukur both said that there were two explosions in quick succession and a third in a nearby road.

A senior rescue official said 64 bodies had been brought to just one Kano area hospital, while 126 people had been admitted with injuries at three facilities.

“Those figures are going to climb,” he said on condition of anonymity, as he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Witnesses say the attack was so massive the number of deaths is in hundreds. Some witnesses, who helped with rescue before police arrived at the scene, said the figures may be as high as 300.

These people woke up this morning with no thought of dying...so it could have been anyone. For how long will this continue? For how long will innocent blood be shed and we fold our arms like everything is ok, or like its normal for people to die daily in this manner? My heart bleeds for this country. Please vote wisely in 2015

INEC To Jail Presidential Candidates Who Spend Above N1bn On Campaign

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it had taken measures to track campaign expenditure incurred by political parties as it lifted ban on election campaigns.
The electoral body said it will sanction presidential aspirants that spend above N1billion on campaign. The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC chairman, Kayode Idowu, on Monday in Abuja stated this in an interview with journalists following the lifting of the ban on election campaigns.
“According to section 91 of the Electoral Act, 2010 as amended, the maximum expenses to be incurred by a candidate at a presidential election shall be N1 billion; for governorship, it is N200 million and the act also stipulated sanctions for candidate who flaunted the campaign spending limits.
“The sanction for presidential election is N1 million or 12 months imprisonment or both and for governor, N800,000 or nine months or both.

NAN reports that in line with the electoral timetable released by INEC, presidential and National Assembly aspirants of political parties are allowed to commence campaign from November 16.

Similarly, the ban on campaign by governorship and state House of Assembly aspirants is expected to be lifted on November 30.

Idowu said that the commission now had a department to monitor spending of candidates in the 2015 elections.

A fully loaded red passenger bus had a head on collision with the governor’s back-up vehicle. The official vehicle in which he was travelling to Asunkunya and Gboko for an official function was also damaged.

Boko Haram Seizes Chibok again, Leaves Scores Dead

Mothers of the missing Chibok school girls are still in trauma
Mothers of missing Chibok Girls wail for their girls
Dozen of civilians are feared dead as Boko Haram militants attacked a town in north-eastern Nigeria, where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted, a military source said.
Insurgents stormed Chibok in the southern part of northeastern Borno State on Thursday at about 5pm local time, the source said, quoting some of the soldiers who returned from the area to the military base in the neighboring town of Biu.
Yohana Braima, a Chibok resident, confirmed the attack.

“Many may have been killed as the insurgents were shooting anyhow,” he told reporters.

He said several residents also fled into the bush, pleading with military troops who he alleged left the town shortly before the arrival of the insurgents to return and save the area from Boko Haram control.

“Our fear now is about our people there. Let soldier return to flush the Boko Haram out,” he said.

Over 200 teenagers were kidnapped by Boko Haram on April 14 at a Chibok school dormitory, spurring international outrage.

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, recently said in a video suspected to have released by the sect that the girls have been married off despite Nigerian government claims of a cease-fire with the group in return for releasing the girls.

You Need To Explain To Nigerians Why Boko Haram Attacks Are On The Rise In The North Daily-Embittered Yobe State Governor Challenges President Jonathan

Late students who lost their lives in the explosion yesterday
Moved by the killing of 48 students by a suicide bomber, in Postiskum yesterday morning, a heart-broken Governor Ibrahim Gaidam on Monday asked President Goodluck Jonathan to explain to the people why insurgents were having a field day in the state despite the imposition of emergency rule.
He said the Federal Government must take action instead of indulging in the condemnation of such dastardly attacks.
The governor spoke in a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Press Affairs and Information, Abdullahi Bego.
It was the first time the quiet governor will bare his mind in a distraught manner.
Read the statement after the cut:
The statement said:
“This morning, our state woke up to a very sad and heart-breaking news of a bomb attack on our young students at Government Comprehensive School, Potiskum, in which no fewer than 35 students were killed and many more injured.
“The thoughts of His Excellency, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam and his prayers are with the parents, teachers and families of the innocent victims of this callous and reprehensible attack.
“The governor is heartbroken and words cannot adequately convey the extent of his remorse and sadness.
“The governor has noted that this is the fifth time in a little over one year when our schools in Yobe State were brutally attacked and students killed. There was Government Secondary School, Damaturu; Government Secondary School Mamudo; College of Agriculture, Gujba; Federal Government College, Buni-Yadi; and now Government Comprehensive School, Potiskum.
“Governor Gaidam deeply regrets that all of these dastardly attacks took place under a climate of Emergency Rule declared in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa States by President Goodluck Jonathan.
“In theory, the Emergency Rule Declaration was a signal that more vigorous steps would be taken to protect the lives and property of people in the affected states and deploy the full might of the federal government to restore peace and security.
“Unfortunately, this has not been fully the case. Instead of forcing insurgents and criminals to flee, the insurgents are forcing innocent people to flee and making life miserable for everyone.
“Governor Gaidam believes that President Goodluck Jonathan has a very urgent responsibility to explain to the people of Yobe State and people all across the affected states why murderous and callous insurgent and criminal attacks are still on the rise despite the State of Emergency.”
The governor demanded immediate action by the federal government to stem the tide of bombings in the state.

Gigantomastia? This Unbelievably BUSTY Woman Whose Breasts Weighed 7kg Each Almost Died From The Condition(Photos)

Kerisha Mark's chest ballooned to a staggering 36NNN. She was diagnosed with a hormonal condition called gigantomastia, which is thought to be caused by a heightened sensitivity to female hormonesWoman with breasts weighing 7kg each undergoes reduction surgery (PHOTOS, VIDEO)
This article is a huge eye opener especially for Ladies. PLEASE take time and read carefully below.
A sharp pain surging across her chest, an ache creeping up her neck, causing a debilitating migraine.
Kerisha Mark, from Beaumont, Texas, feared they were the symptoms of a heart attack or brain tumour.
But the then 39-year-old was not at risk of either life-threatening conditions.
Instead doctors told her the pain was the result of her breasts and a rare condition, gigantomastia.Ms Mark had always had an exceptionally large chest.
But by her late 30s, her bust had grown to a staggering 36NNN.
The rapid growth was the result of the hormonal condition.
Gigantomastia is diagnosed when breast weight exceeds three per cent of a person's body weight.
The enlargement can cause muscle pain, and over-stretching of the skin envelope, which can lead to ulceration.
Dr Franklin Rose from Houston, Texas, said in his 35-year career he has not seen a patient with a larger bust

The condition usually affects one breast more than the other, causing asymmetry.
It is thought the underlying cause of the condition is a heightened sensitivity to female hormones prolactin, oestrogen and progesterone.
For Ms Mark the condition resulted in pulled chest muscles, severe back pain and emotional distress, the Washington Post reported.
'I could not run or jump or work out at all,'she said.
'I was very limited in a lot of things I could do.'
She estimated her breasts weighed around 15lbs (7kg) each, and said she had been forced to use duct tape to hold them in place.
Having considered surgery as an option for years, Ms Mark made the decision to mark her 40th birthday by having treatment.

Dr Franklin Rose, a plastic surgeon based in Houston, performed the operation.
He told The Post he could not remember seeing a patient with larger breasts in his 35-year career.

He said: 'The breasts really hung down to her hips and were essentially like carrying around three basketballs at all times because they were so large.
'

Dr Rose said he recruited a colleague to help with the four-hour operation, where he removed 15lbs of breast tissue.
They were able to leave Ms Mark with a 'nice full' DD cup bust.
He said if her condition had been left untreated it could have developed into degenerative kyphosis, a condition causing a person's spine to curve forward, forming a hump or hunchback.
More than a month after her surgery — which, she said, was covered by insurance — Mark said she's feeling much better and that her symptoms have disappeared. In addition to losing weight from her breast reduction, she's dropped another 10 pounds in recent weeks.
She is also  excited at the prospect of a new wardrobe.
'The first time my best friend saw me, she cried,' Kerisha said. 'When I stood up for the first time I felt so light.'
And when the operation was complete, she said she was overcome by emotions she hadn't expected.
'After I got home I did cry. It was like I mourned the death of them, it was like a divorce.'
But today the 40-year-old is looking forward to a pain-free future.
'My first thing on the agenda is to purchase a beautiful bra and second is to buy a strapless dress,' she added.
WHAT IS GIGANTOMASTIA?
Gigantomastia is diagnosed when breast weight exceeds three per cent of a person's body weight.
The enlargement can cause muscle pain, and over-stretching of the skin, which can lead to ulceration.
The condition usually affects one breast more than the other, causing asymmetry.
It is thought the underlying cause of the condition is a heightened sensitivity to female hormones prolactin, oestrogen and progesterone.

Ms Mark said the operation has changed her life, allowing her to start exercising again and treat herself to a new wardrobe. She said: 'When I stood up for the first time I felt so light'

The consequences of having large breasts can be devastating, ranging from crippling back pain, neck and arm pain to headaches, friction rash and a curvature of the spine.
Embarrassment can deter women from exercising, leaving them prone to health problems linked to obesity, including diabetes and heart disease.
A study published in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2012 found that a woman with very large breasts can lose five years off her expected lifespan if she does not have a reduction.
Professor Laurence Kirwan is a plastic surgeon who performed a breast reduction on TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson after her breast size soared from a D-cup to an L-cup after having four children.
Far from being merely cosmetic, Professor Kirwan said a large breast can weigh as much as 3.3lb and removing as little as half a pound can dramatically relieve the symptoms.
But he points out that the issue is often not taken seriously, particularly as large breasts are seen as desirable. ‘It’s wrong for NHS trusts and insurance companies to dismiss this as vanity,’ he says.
‘Many of the women who come to me desperate for breast reductions have poor posture and are in a great deal of pain due to the drag on their shoulders and neck.’

Fresh Bomb Explosion Rocks Secondary School In Potiskum Yobe State, Many Students Feared Dead

An explosion has rocked Comprehensive Secondary School in Potiskum, Yobe state this morning as students gathered for the morning assembly.
The explosive is believed to have been ferried into the school by a suicide bomber, in typical Boko Haram style.
The identity of the suicide bomber is unknown but there are suggestions he might be one of the students of the school or an impersonator who mixed with students on the assembly ground.
Although there are no official numbers yet of causalities, many students are feared dead and several others  injured.

The spokesperson of the Yobe State Command of the Nigeria Police, Nansak Chegwam, has confirmed the incident.

South African Teenager Who Continuously Bleeds From The Eyes Leaves Doctors Confused

13-year-old Jane Mothibe, from Katlehong in Ekurhuleni, South Africa, apparently bleeds from her eyes and it often comes when she is at school and it scares other pupils.
Her mum, Welheminah, 43, has taken Jane to doctors and to their church for help but nobody could find the cause of the bleeding.
“One doctor said I was crazy and laughed at me. He took my R350 and gave me medicine for Jane but said he saw nothing wrong,” said Welheminah.
The bleeding didn’t stop and Jane was sent to hospital.
Many tests were done but doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with her.
The bleeding stopped in June but started again last Friday.
“Now it’s on her stomach, ears and thighs. It’s everywhere. Kids at school are even saying that she has blood cancer,” the mum said.
Jane said she doesn’t feel any pain from the bleeding. “I don’t feel, and my classmates have to tell me that it’s started again.
“I go to church and I believe in God. Why is this happening to me?”
Catholic priest Father Smangaliso Mkhatshwa told Daily Sun that the church will investigate what’s happening to Jane. “It could be a rare disease, but there could also be religious causes,” he said.
One of Jane’s schoolmates told the People’s Paper that she loves Jane, but gets scared when the bleeding starts.
Welheminah’s colleague, Carol Mofokeng, also tried to help the girl.
“I have seen Jane being brought from school with bandages, but without wounds. This is sad. She needs help to understand what is happening to her,” Carol said.

HP Reinvents The PC With Bizarre Computer It Calls 'The Sprout' Which Ditches Keyboard And Mouse For A Projector And Giant Touchpad

HP's $1,899 (£1,180) Sprout PC (pictured) has a 23-inch touchscreen display with an interactive touch mat. A projector is fitted to the top of the monitor, known as the HP Illuminator, and the California-based firm calls the technology Blended Reality
HP's $1,899 (£1,180) Sprout PC (pictured) has a 23-inch touchscreen display with an interactive touch mat. A projector is fitted to the top of the monitor, known as the HP Illuminator, and the California-based firm calls the technology Blended Reality
`In a bid to reinvigorate its range of PCs, HP has unveiled a radical new design complete with a projector and 3D cameras.
The revolutionary HP Sprout, combines a 23-inch touchscreen display with an interactive touch mat - in place of a standard keyboard and mouse.
A projector on top of the monitor scans objects, and it can track a user’s hands when using a virtual keyboard below.

The PC is available for pre-order online in the US, before being released in stores on 9 November, and costs $1,899 (£1,180). More country release dates are yet to be announced.
The California-based firm calls the technologyBlended Reality.

The projector, dubbed the HP Illuminator, is fitted with Intel’s RealSense 3D technology, similar to Microsoft’s Kinect, and combines a 14.6MP camera, the projector itself, and an LED desk lamp.
This camera system means it is able to beam images on to the mat, but can also be used to scan physical objects.

Once an object has been scanned, a virtual copy can be manipulated in 2D and 3D either on the touchscreen, or on the mat, using a stylus, or touchscreen controls such as pinch and swipe.
During the launch event, HP executives demonstrated how various items from pens and cups to figurines and pictures can be scanned, tacked onto existing images or video, edited then emailed or shared through social media.
And when a virtual keyboard is beamed onto the mat, the cameras can also track the location of fingers to plot what they type using its 20-point capacitive sensors.
HP Sprout runs on Windows 8.1, is powered by Intel’s i7 processor and comes with 1TB storage.
‘We've been working for a number of years already.
'We have patents going back more than 10 years,’ said project chief Ramon Pastor.
‘We didn't want to introduce a product that wasn't a breakthrough.’
Eric Monsef, project leader, said the initial production run ‘will be modest but can be scaled up if needed’.
He said the key would be to attract developers for a new Sprout marketplace or apps store, for software that takes advantage of Sprout's 3D capabilities.
HP Sprout will launch with apps from Dreamworks Animation, Skype and Evernote. More will be added later.
‘It's about getting people excited again,’said Mr Monself.

Additional country releases will be announced shortly.
In a departure for the company, HP also announced it will begin to share its 3D printing technology.
The technique, which the company claims can print 10 times faster and much cheaper than current products, will be shared with select manufacturing and technology partners to garner feedback before launching in 2016.
The company calls its technique ‘multi jet fusion’ because it uses a series of printing jets spraying multiple chemicals simultaneously.
It also claims it is cheaper than other commercially available technologies.

Once an object has been scanned, a virtual copy can be manipulated in 2D and 3D either on the touchscreen, or on the mat (pictured) using a stylus, or touchscreen controls such as pinch and swipe. Users can also type onto the mat using a software-based keyboard because the cameras recognise 20 touches at one time

13 Years After 9/11, World Trade Center Reopens For Business

Thirteen years after the 9/11 terrorist attack, the resurrected World Trade Center (pictured last month) is again opening for business, marking an emotional milestone for both New Yorkers and the nation
Thirteen years after the 9/11 terrorist attack, the resurrected World Trade Center is again opening for business
The World Trade Center toppled more than 13 years ago in the sad September 11 terrorist attack has been rebuilt and is now open for business.
The silvery, 1,776-foot skyscraper that rose from the ashes of 9/11 to become a symbol of American resilience opened for business Monday, as 175 employees of the magazine publishing giant Conde Nast settled into their first day of work in their new offices.
"The New York City skyline is whole again," says Patrick Foye, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns both the building and the 16-acre World Trade Center site.

Steps away from the new tower are two memorial fountains built on the footprints of the decimated twin towers, a reminder of the more than 2,700 people who died in the terrorist attack.

Conde Nast, publisher of Vogue, The New Yorker and Vanity Fair, is expected to move in about 3,000 more employees by early next year, eventually occupying 25 floors of the $3.9 billion, 104-story tower, the nation's tallest building.

Foye counters widespread fears aboout the new building, saying that it's "the most secure office building in America." And its chief architect, T.J. Gottesdiener, said the high-rise was built with steel-reinforced concrete that makes it as terror attack-proof as possible — much stronger than the original towers that collapsed on themselves when the hijacked planes hit.

The stairwells are built with a hardened concrete core, and wider to allow firefighters to move while people exit. The building's mechanical systems are also encased in hardened concrete.

"If my son told me he had a job in the trade center Tower 1, I would have no qualms about him being there,"Gottesdiener said.

After 9/11, he said, architects took pains to figure out new ways to make a high-rise safer, working with the New York Fire Department, buildings officials and police, while learning from new techniques from construction in cities worldwide.

Finally, computerized simulations were used to calculate what would happen with people in the building.

The eight-year construction of the skyscraper came after years of political, financial and legal infighting that threatened to derail the project.

Boko Haram Storms Kogi Prisons Again, Frees 144 Inmates

Gunmen have freed at least 50 inmates from the Federal Prison in Koton-Karfe, Kogi State, AFP reports.
Residents of the state said that they heard gunshots and explosions at about 10:00pm on Sunday.
"They blew up the thing with dynamite,"national police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu confirmed AFP. "Up to 50 inmates escaped," he added.
According to unverified reports, the freed inmates number at least 144.
The Controller of the prisons confirmed the attack.

The Nation reports however that at least nine of the freed inmates have been re-arrested.
Although no one has yet claimed responsibility for the raid, terror group Boko Haram are suspected to be behind it.

This would be the second time that gunmen would be attacking the Kogi prison in the last two years.

In February 2012, suspected members of the Boko Haram sect bombed their way into the prison before opening fire on the wardens and emptying the jail of its 200 inmates.

That attack in 2012 left one warden dead.
